I’d have been furious about walking downhill; I don’t like it when plans are changed. I would have worn different shoes! Carried a walking stick! Indeed, Words would have been Exchanged.😁

I was angry but at the same time, it’s not liked he forced me; we both underestimated how hard it would be. And I felt a little guilty for forgetting about his heights phobia. I love being up high! But we could absolutely have handled it better. Physically it was hard for him too, I should have been clearer about that.

Over and over again for some of them!

Your Catskills hiking experience is very similar to one I had in Portugal. We took a day trip to Sintra to see the castle and my husband decided we would hike down an overgrown trail that was actually gated off and had signs posted “TRAIL CLOSED”. I was wearing Dr. Scholl’s slip ons, jeans and had on several layers (t shirt, sweater tied around my waist, carrying a windbreaker). The trail was muddy and literally deconstructed in places (hence the signs DO NOT GET ME STARTED on why he insisted on hiking down a closed trail) and I kept falling. Also, do not underestimate the challenge of hiking down hill. I will get 25 minutes ahead of people whenever I hike “up” but the moment we have to go down it destroys my knees and ankles. And I am over 15 years younger than you and an accomplished athlete. So, do NOT beat yourself up over that.

Those slopes around Sintra are pretty steep! Yes, we definitely thought "it's all downhill, how bad could it be?"

Going downhill in not-very-supportive shoes is how I got my first “sports” injury! My poor knees.

Cal went to Frost Valley for school overnight in middle school too. I did not. He corralled some friends to join him on a hike in the dark. Those poor teachers

My son was relatively well behaved on all these overnights, possibly because I was there. His middle school also, on a different occasion, spent the night at the campground at Floyd Bennett Field (Queens), where I wowed everyone with my knowledge of the local flora but someone threw a can of spray deodorant into the campfire.

Banana Republic Factory, girlfriend! Great sales now. Several notches up from Old Navy, although ON has its uses.

You must have been pretty mad at Mr. Crone.

There was Much Discussion and he was very contrite. But it was a folie à deux to be sure.
