You don’t realize what you depend upon on your body until you can’t use it! Discovered that after heart surgery. Since they cracked open my chest, I couldn’t raise my arms past heart height for six weeks…nor could I use them to get myself up out of bed, off a chair, etc. The flip side is your abs get stronger! Wishing you a complete recovery and as little pain as possible!
I am so happy to see you out of the hospital and communicating. In spite of everything that has happened to you. As far as the "right side" problem, as you so clearly said: "You don't know what you got until it's gone!". And oldie but goodie here - Joni Mitchell I think - Paved Paradise and put in a parking lot. You doing great! Try to stay off the oxy as much as possible - that is a bad, bad addictive drug. Sending you all the good vibes that I can. Hugs from Canada and Be Well or at least as OK as you can be.
Yikes! I second talking to Dr about sleep meds. There are a lot that don’t have risk of addiction. Though you are vey unlikely to have that happen. Hang in there. I hope Veronica is giving you some rubs and snuggles
You are really being a trouper about this, I am afraid I would be whining a good deal more. The description of sleep on or off oxy, was in fact genius. Here's to rapid healing.
Indeed! The first days are the hardest but not being in pain is also important as is sleep! Are you taking anything to help with sleep? If not, you might want to consider it since your body needs sleep to heal! Using meds now doesn't mean you'll need to use them forever and, if you don't like any specific med, speak to your doctor about a different one.
All to say, not being in pain and getting sufficient good sleep are very important for healing!
I'm glad your surgery was not as bad as your previous surgeries and you got a "free" purse mirror out of it!
My arm/shoulder hardware also doesn't look impressive but it's not a competition and yours may cause you fewer issues with magnetometers than your sister's (I can go thru some without setting off any alarms since they're mostly checking lower on the body).
I do hope your recovery is smooth and you have your right arm back quickly (even if it will take lots of PT and hard work).
