Hello beloved readers and followers! I have been thinking about some changes for this newsletter. Here’s what I’ve decided:
I will post on Sunday instead of Saturday. The “get up and write like a maniac on Saturday morning” approach was working for a good while, but now it feels stressful and unappealing. There are some topics I want to attempt that will produce much better results if given more time. I try to outline topics during the week but haven’t been able to recently. I feel the quality of my posts has suffered.
I’m taking May off. I will post next week with April’s content consumption roundup. I’ll return again the first weekend in June, presumably fully rested and further tempered by the manic tumult of the end of the semester.
Putting this here because you should always have at least three points to justify a new approach. My third point (which you may have already guessed) is that I’m tired and need some time off. I have a few dilemmas that are taking up my mental processing power and I need to focus on those.
As a special treat, here’s a photo of me in my bathroom wearing almost everything I bought at the Sephora and Ulta sales this week:
I bought Ulta brand tinted moisturizer, Sephora brand concealer, e.l.f. clear mascara, Kosas DreamBeam SPF and Milani Color Fetish Hydrating Lip Stain.
This is not a beauty shopping newsletter, so I’m not going to link to to products, but I wrote some mini-reviews.
Ulta tinted moisturizer. It was $7 and I wanted to try this type of product. I wasn’t too sure about it because it has chemical SPF (24, not enough by itself), which often makes my eyes sting, but this seemed fine. Shade is Light to Medium.
Sephora Best Skin Ever Multi-Use Hydrating Glow Concealer. The shade’s lighter than I expected and the texture more powdery, but it does its job. Next time there’s a 30% off sale on Sephora products I’m going to try the hydrating one. Though maybe this one was the hydrating one. No, they are both described as hydrating. Shade is 22 Natural.
e.l.f. clear brow and lash mascara. Many mascaras make my eyes itch and weep, hence clear mascara. I tried the Maybelline Great Lash version and it sucked. Specifically, it was goopy and never seemed to dry. Every time I touched my eyelids it came off on my fingers (I am incapable of not rubbing my eyes). This one dries quickly and doesn’t make me cry. One end is for lashes and the other for brows. The big difference seems to be the shape of the brush. Next time I’ll curl my lashes first. Shade is Clear/Transparent.
Kosas DreamBeam Comfy Smooth Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40. Supposedly a glowy mineral based sunscreen. It’s certainly glowy! I wanted to try it because most mineral sunscreens are too matte for me or if they aren’t dry, they slide off. At first it looks too shiny but then it seems to sink in. You can put makeup over it. I bought a mini in case I end up hating it. Shade is DreamBeam.
Milani Color Fetish Hydrating Lip Stain. I guess it’s hydrating. The “stain” part is a bit of a misnomer. It didn’t survive lunch, which I feel a stain should. The doe-foot applicator is easy to use. The pigmentation is good. The packaging is hideous. I like the color and the price was right. Shade is Rose Rising.
Here ends my crowd-pleasing attempt at service journalism.
Thanks for reading! See you next week and then in June.
Looking great. Funny, this month I have slowed down too.
I love the shade of that lipstain! Wishing you a good rest!
